The Salvation Army Motorcycle Ministry

Heart to God
Hand to Man
Who Are we?
The Salvation Army Motorcycle Ministry (TSAMM) is not just a club, it’s a calling, to come alongside, love and support any motorcycle rider. Every single person was created by God on purpose for a purpose and every single person needs to know and experience the Love of Christ.
No bike rider is forgotten. Where ever people are, they need the Lord, and our target is to reach those people. The Motorcycle Ministry wants all riders to know we’re here for them.
A group of Salvation Army Officers, Soldiers and friends, dressed in Leather and riding Motorbikes, isn’t the first image that pops in your head when thinking about a program of The Salvation Army, but for some countries, including Australia, it is starting to happen.
The Salvation Army Motorcycle Ministry is thriving overseas in countries such as USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden and Iceland, with Australia holding its first official meeting, in October 2014.
TSAMM currently has 25 members with the majority in NSW and QLD. Unlike most other motorcycle clubs, we welcome the involvement and membership of female riders. Although accepting of all, there is a recruitment process, with strict rules and regulations, plus a trial period before full membership can be handed to a rider.
National rides take place each year, and local rides, organised by local members, happen most weekends. Although small in number we have been invited to other Christian motorcycle events and general meetings. We are becoming a legitimate part of the Australian motorcycling community.
TSAMM will go to any bike club, including bikie gangs, military clubs and social clubs – and chat with any group of riders in different places. No bike rider is forgotten. We wear a Salvation Army badge, so it’s obvious who we are. We witness to other riders, mainly in our clean living with no smoking or drinking, and coming alongside in life.
As the founder of The Salvation Army, William Booth set out not to condemn the chronic drunkards, prostitutes and thieves as disgusting rejects worthy of Hell as others saw them, but to persuade them of the love of God for them personally, and of the possibility of their arrival in Heaven one day. So too we set out to show this love to all motorcycle riders no matter what.
